| So, I'm not actually back here....just popping in to say that if you're looking for me, I still friend other people and read their Xangas, so if you friend me, I'll read yours, but if you want to read anything I blog, head over to livejournal.com, where I use the same username. Oh, and if you wish, you may see photos from CTY this year on Picasa Web Albums, http://picasaweb.google.com/rkrentzwee. | | |
| The weather is very gloomy today. And it's predicted to stay rainy and grey all weekend. Meanwhile, my parents are visiting my brother at college, where it's supposed to be sunny all weekend. Hmph. From mayonakahikari: If there is at least one person in your life whom you consider a close friend, and whom you would not have met without the internet, post this sentence in your journal. ♥ | | |
| So, I've been thinking I might want to switch over to LJ completely. Only problem being, of course, that a ton of friends are on here and I'd lose touch. So this will stay, but sometimes I've been forgetting to double post entries at LJ and Xanga, so you might want to look at it once in a while if keeping track of my life is really important to you. Or even if it's not, because I can't imagine it is.
Anyways, this was me remembering I haven't posted on here in a while, though I have posted on LJ a couple time, and me procrastinating from doing homework.
| Sorry about leaving everyone in the lurch over the weekend...In the rush to go to Hammo, I was too worried about remembering everything to pack that I forgot to tell people I would be gone. Sorry if you tried to contact me....
Anyways, Hammonasset was wicked awesome! It's a huge Lutheran Youth gathering at Hammonasset State Park in CT. Got to see all my Calumet friends, ubercool, and met a few new people. Sat dinner was with Our Saviour's in Fairfield, with whom we went on a mission trip this summer, so that was fun to see them again. Also, the band leader, Peder Eide, was there, cause Karen and the youth had been helping him sell merchandise and all that. Since I'm too lazy to type a lot, take my word that he's really cool. Or go to www.pedereide.com. Also, the keynote speaker, Jen Jacobsen, ate lunch with use on Sat. She was a good speaker, though she definitely was something of a ditz in high school, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. But all in all, it was a good weekend. Especially Veggietales.
YAP started again today. (That's Stamford Young Artists Philharmonic, aka Youth Orchestra.) Pretty good first rehearsal. Only four violas, but hey, I didn't expect many more. Hopefully Barbara, the conductor of one of the younger groups, will be joining us again for a total of five. And you know, I swear that Mr. Princiotti said he was going to retire. Am I imagining things? Because he definitely was up there conducting tonight. But the music is pretty good - a toccata, easy but nice, last movement of Mendelssohn Symphony #5, which really sounds like A Mighty Fortress is My God, variations on a theme by Paganini, which are awesome, but not as awesome as Andrew Lloyd Webber's variations on the same theme, and an arrangement of The Lord of the Dance, which is an ok song but this arrangement is awful. At least the viola part is. But the first three songs are all good, and this is tour year for YAP, and they're trying to arrange a trip in June-July to Italy, which would be amazing.
| And the first full day of school has finished.... Really, it hasn't been that bad. So far, all of my teachers seem pretty good. I thought there would be a ton of homework, what with all the honors and AP courses, but it's been pretty light. However, I'm thinking that's more because it's the beginning of the year, the school's under construction, and half my classes don't have textbooks yet rather than all my teachers being really nice. In fact, I'm sure of that, since Corona has said we'll be translating 30-40 lines every night and all my junior friends like to tell me how hard Schneider is. NB: Hastava - Adam had always described him as loving physics. That was an understatement. In less than two full classes, he must have told us over fifty times that physics is the foundation of all science and everything depends on physics. However, Adam also really liked physics, it was his favorite class, so having a slightly obsessed teacher can't be all that bad. Oh, those who were wondering about AP Latin V - in middle school, instead of just finishing Latin I, there was an accelerated program so that we could finish Latin I and II. So last year, we took Latin III. We would be taking AP Latin Vergil (IV) this year, but there were only 6 of us that wanted to do it, so we were given a choice between Honors IV and AP Latin Literature (V). On the advice of my brother and previous Latin teacher, a few of us decided to go ahead with Latin Lit. We'll probably take AP Vergil next year. (Yes, I know, it's a bit backwards.) | | |
